The purpose of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) Swimming Lesson Voucher Program is to increase water safety and prevent drownings in Broward County by offering free swimming lessons to children ages 0–17.

• What’s covered by the voucher?

  • The voucher covers the cost of enrolling your child in a swimming course, which includes 4 to 8 progressive swimming lessons. No additional payment is required for the course.

• What are the eligibility requirements?

  • The child must be 0–17 years old.

• Do I need to submit multiple applications if requesting the offer for more than one child?

  • Yes, if you need vouchers for more than one child, you’ll need to apply separately for each child.

• How many times can I redeem this offer?

  • The voucher can only be claimed once per child.

  • Scheduling Swimming Lessons

  • Receiving the voucher:

  • Within 5 business days of submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming if your application was approved. If approved, the email will include a voucher number and expiration date.

  • Once you have the voucher, Register Below and choose a course from the list at the bottom of this page to enroll and schedule your child’s lessons.

• What to know about the swimming lessons provider:

  • Number and duration of lessons: The total number of lessons varies by location. The voucher covers up to 8 lessons, each lasting 20–45 minutes.

  • Scheduling: Each facility offers lessons at different times (days/evenings and weekdays/weekends), and schedules are based on age groups.

  • Special Needs: We provide lessons for children with special needs (adaptive swim curricula). ​​​

Each session includes:

​

8 total lessons

Monday through Thursday for 2 weeks.

Lessons are 30 minutes each and grouped by age and skill level.

To enter Level 2 courses, a skill test is administered.

Make-up days are on Friday due to bad weather, etc.
